Frequently Asked Questions
Permanent cosmetics are a type of cosmetic tattooing (also known as micropigmentation or semi-permanent cosmetics). Semi permanent cosmetics involves the application of pigment into the skin. Although the treatment uses needles, these do not penetrate deep into the skin as in tattooing.
Microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin using a state of the art hand held tool, instead of a machine. Tiny precision hair strokes are created by hand, following the natural direction and length of your brows. The needle flows in the same direction as the hair growth, forming wonderful natural looking brows.
Although a form of tattooing, the pain factor is considered to be less pronounced as the treatments are gentler and less invasive. For most people it is not a problem. For others it can be a little uncomfortable depending on the individual’s pain threshold. Many clients are very surprised at how little discomfort they experience.
An initial consultation will be used to discuss your requirements and help you decide on the result that will best suit you. Everything from your lifestyle, image, hair, skin tone and facial features will be taken into consideration. I will then custom blend colours to perfectly match your requirements. The treatment itself involves gently implanting microscopic particles of pigment into the reticular layer of skin.
Yes, the healed result will look very natural. Take a look through the portfolio images and you will see that the results can be tailored to whatever look, colour tone or strength best suits you.
This all depends on the individual. I recommend colour boost treatments every 9-12 months to keep them looking fresh. If you leave your brows without the booster treatment, they can stay for between 1 – 3 years. They will always gradually fade.
Absolutely not. If you have natural brow hairs, I will work with what you have, subtly integrating their work to suit your natural brow style.
Yes, the tattoo design will be discussed with you first. The brows design will be drawn before the treatment. We will discuss any readjustment or alteration in terms of shape and size. I won’t tattoo anything until you are 100% happy.
Brow treatments tend to look darker in colour immediately after the treatment. It can be around 50% darker, becoming lighter after 4-7 days. They can also be slightly red but this fades within a few hours.
Everyone is different, but as a general rule the surface skin generally heals between 3-7 days after the treatment, and 10 – 14 days below the surface. Many people will return to work the same day after a treatment. You will be provided with comprehensive after care instructions.
Treatment times vary depending on how advanced or detailed the required result is. Although some treatments may take as little as 1.5 hours, you should set aside 2.5 hours for your appointment.
You can wear make-up straight after the treatment, just not on the brows. You need to wait until the treatment area has healed, this could take a good week to two weeks, before applying make-up on the brow. If applying cosmetics elsewhere ensure you don’t get any in the treatment area, as this could lead to healing problems.
Strong sun can impact on the success of the result during the immediate healing phase. It is recommended that you leave at least 2 weeks between your final re-touch procedure and your holiday. You will need 2 weeks of healing out of the sun, if planning a holiday it may be best to have your treatment after your holiday.
A full assessment of your medical background will be made prior to the treatment. While there are some occasions when people are not suitable for treatment due to medical matters, it is rare.
You can make a booking by email or phone. A non-refundable deposit will be required to secure your appointment, the remaining balance is required to be paid in full at your first appointment. No appointment can be made with the deposit being paid. (see full terms and conditions)
After 4-6 weeks your touch up appointment will take place and is vital. Your complimentary touch up appointment is to replace any pigment that may have been lost during your healing process. Results vary between person to person, any concerns you may have can be discussed during your touch up. However, if you do not attend your scheduled touch up appointment you will be charged for any further treatment.
RULE NUMBER 1 – DON’T PANIC! Remember that the colour is up to 50% DARKER immediately after the treatment. It will start to become lighter after 4 – 7 days. DON’T PANIC! The true healed colour will not come through until approximately 4 – 6 weeks after the initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is hidden by the healing layers of skin. You need to let your skin heal and it is for this reason that under no circumstances should you have any further permanent cosmetics work undertaken during this 4 – 6 week healing period.
Other guidelines for getting the best from your treatment will be given to you at your appointment.
